OKU TIMUR — The English Education Program (PBI) of Nurul Huda University has introduced English Zone, a program designed to encourage students to actively use English in their daily academic life.
English Zone is not a regular event or scheduled session, but a designated area within campus where English is the required language of communication. Whenever students are within this zone whether inside the classroom during lessons or while chatting with friends outside the classroom they are expected to speak in English.
The idea behind English Zone is simple: language skills grow through consistent use. By creating a space where English is the default language, students are encouraged to think, respond, and communicate in English more naturally, without the pressure of being graded.
For many students, the biggest challenge to speaking English fluently is not a lack of knowledge, but a lack of opportunity to practice. English Zone was created to address exactly that giving students a consistent space to use English actively, make mistakes, and gradually improve.
Beyond language practice, English Zone also strengthens the sense of community among PBI students and lecturers, as everyone is encouraged to support one another in building an English-speaking habit together.
Through this program, English Education Program (PBI) reaffirms its commitment to creating a campus environment that helps students become confident and capable English speakers, both in and outside the classroom.
